Azariah Easey Releases His First-Ever Video Game!
On February 24, 2025, Azariah Easey, developer and webmaster of BazineSDAChurch.com, published the first video game he built from the bottom up. Called Sea Cross: Bible Game™ (Sea Cross for short), the game is based on the story of when the Israelites crossed the Red Sea.
“The game is rather involved,” Azariah remarks. “You are helping Moses and the Israelites cross that massive body of water while helping Moses catch shells along the way. There are also crabs Moses can trip over, and the Egyptians are nipping at the heels of the ex-slaves. To keep them at bay, you answer questions correctly or apply powerups to the situation.”
Even though the game was developed over the last few months, it has a rather nostalgic 1980s feel.
“I purposefully wanted to make the game look 8-bit,” Azariah explains. “For that reason, I have 8-bit chiptunes playing alongside visual elements, including pixelated people, fish, shells, and crabs.”
Of course, Sea Cross: Bible Game™ is not the first video game based on that iconic story.
“There was one video game built for the Atari 2600 entitled Red Sea Crossing, which involved helping Moses cross the Red Sea while a timer was ticking,” Azariah chuckles. “During each crossing frame, you had to jump over obstacles and dodge spears.”
“The development of this video game would not have been made possible without the encouragement and support of my friends and family,” Azariah continues. “My friends have helped in many ways, from designing the main layout of the video game to continuing to pray for me as I finalized the project. If it weren’t for them, Sea Cross: Bible Game™ would have never happened.”
With the creation of this video game, a new Christian video game company has also been founded: Easey2Play.
“Sea Cross was only the beginning,” Azariah notes. “We plan to continue to make more wholesome virtual experiences through Easey2Play. We are currently focused on producing more computer games but might expand our horizons as we grow. Our current mission is to create video games and virtual experiences that will reinforce what Christians already know, encouraging them to continue diving deep into God’s Word, while at the same time reaching out to gamers who might be ignorant of the Bible.”
“Any support would be appreciated,” Azariah adds. “One way to support us is to promote the game to those you know. If you know anyone who would enjoy Sea Cross, share it with them. That’s the best way to start a chain reaction and help us reach more people.”
